INTRODUCTION

Member of 2008

We have studied on the Physical Chemistry of Materials based on the Chemical Thermodynamics, which is the mathematical study of the interrelation of heat and work with chemical reactions or with a physical change of state within the confines of the laws of thermodynamics. In particular, we have studied on the determination of Gibbs energies of formation of various materials by the calorimetry methods combining acid-solution calorimetry for measuring the standard enthalpy of formation at 298 K and relaxation method for measuring the heat capasity from near absolute zero Kelvin. We have also determined the Gibbs energies of formation of metal borides by electromotive force measurement using solid electrolyte such as ZrO2-Y2O3. In adiition, from the view points of the extractive metallurgy and the materials producting engineering, we have studied the molten salt electrolysis. Recently, we study about the electrodeposition of metals and functional alloys such as Zn alloy platings with high corrosion resistance, the thermoelectric semiconductors, and so on from the non-aqueous solution including organic or inorganic molten salts and the alcohol based solutions.
