Scholarship Programs

The university handles scholarships including those offered by the Japan Student Services Organization, JASSO, as support for students who have excellent character and academic performance but have difficulty continuing their studies due to financial reasons.
Information on applications and procedures is announced through Universal Passport, scholarship information category. Please be careful not to miss application periods.

New Higher Education Study Support System, Grant-Type Scholarship

DetailsStudents selected as scholarship recipients can receive a grant-type scholarship and reductions of tuition and other fees according to their support category.

Grant PeriodIn principle, from the month the grant begins until graduation within the standard period of study. However, the support category may change or support may end depending on eligibility reviews for household finances and academic performance.
Application PeriodApril and September. An emergency application system is also available for sudden changes in household finances, generally within three months of the change. New students should inquire separately.

Loan-Type Scholarships

InterestType 2 scholarships carry interest up to an annual rate of 3%.

Applications Due to Sudden Changes in Household Finances

EligibilityRegular JASSO scholarship applications are accepted twice a year, in April and September. If household finances suddenly change due to the death, accident, illness, or disaster affecting the household supporter, applications may be submitted throughout the year. Current grant-type scholarship recipients may also apply if they meet the requirements for sudden household financial change. Support categories may change over short periods.
Grant-Type Application PeriodIn principle, applications must be submitted within three months of the date of the event. New undergraduate students who experienced a sudden household financial change on or after January two years before admission should apply within three months from the month of admission.
Loan-Type Application PeriodIn principle, applications must be submitted within twelve months of the date of the event.
Amount and PeriodAmounts and periods differ depending on the scholarship type.
Application ProcedureStudents who wish to apply must consult the Academic Affairs Office at the Himeji Engineering Campus in advance. Required documents differ depending on the reason for the sudden change in household finances.
