Artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT) are key technologies for supporting society in an era of population aging and declining birthrates.
In the graduate field of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics, students study a broad range of topics, from foundational technologies to advanced research in machine learning, simulation, image processing, image recognition, virtual reality, data science, intelligent systems, and mathematical systems.
Through this education and research, the field develops professionals with practical research and development skills, broad perspectives, and advanced expertise.
The field also conducts applied research that uses AI and ICT to contribute to daily life, industry, medicine, and society, while building on strong fundamental research.
Artificial Intelligence and Informatics consists of seven research groups: Communication and Radio Wave Applications, Intelligent Mathematical and Computational Science, Data Science, Visual Media Engineering, Intelligent Systems, Image Communication, and Mathematical Systems Analysis Engineering.
